HP adopta el API acelerado por GPU OpenCL

el API de cómputo GPGPU estándar continua ganando terreno

AMD desde que se decantó por el API de cómputo GPGPU estándar OpenCL, renunciando a su API propietario Stream se ha estado esforzando por que cada vez más desarrolladores de software y aplicaciones lo adopten, y fruto de dicho esfuerzo fueron la adopción de dicho estándar por importantes desarrolladores como Cyberlink, Sony, ArcSoft, Corel, Vivu, Mainconcept, entre otros. Recientemente AMD ha anunciado a otro nuevo e importante desarrollador que se suma a sus filas: HP.

AMD anuncia su compromiso y apoyo a los desarrolladores de software para que implementen el uso de las API GPGPU estándares de la industria OpenCL (del grupo Khronos) y DirectCompute (parte de las librerías DirectX 11 de Microsoft) a fin de que puedan desarrollar aplicaciones que saquen provecho de las muchas unidades de cómputo paralelo presentes en sus GPUs (Radeon HD 4000 y superiores) y APUs (IGPs Fusion Radeon HD) a fin de lograr un rendimiento muy superior al de los CPUs. HP, el miembro más reciente de las filas del programa de adopción de OpenCL de AMD, se encuentra trabajando con esta a fin de usar OpenCL para usarlo en la aceleración de imágenes en tiempo real en los softwares incluidos en sus impresoras comerciales e industriales de “gran” formato.
